Suzanne Swanson Wagner

Owner & Artistic Director of Marilyn School of Dance, LLC 

Miss Suzanne is well known for her talents as a dancer, teacher, and choreographer. She has studied extensively worldwide in Chicago, Los Angeles, New York, Russia, and Paris under Masters in ballet, jazz, and tap. Other credits include teaching at the College of St. Theresa, MN, Dance Masters of WI workshops, touring Colorado and abroad to Russia and France with her Vision Dance Company, to Disney World and Carnival Cruise Line and Spain with her Dance Stars, choreography for high school and college performance groups, and work with area musical theaters. She is the Artistic Director and Founder of the Monroe-Jackson Dance Theatre for which she has staged The Nutcracker, Thumbelina, Peter Pan, The Sleeping Beauty, Peter and the Wolf, Cinderella and choreographed Alice in Wonderland. Marilyn Wood, for whom the studio is named, was her first teacher and mentor. Suzanne is over a 25 year member of DMW and Chicago National Association of Dance Masters. She was inducted into the prestigious DMW Hall of Fame in 2016 and currently sits on the board of CNADM.


Miss Emily has 13 years of dance experience including tap, jazz, ballet, and kick line. She is a graduate of UW La Crosse with a degree in Community Health Education. Before moving to Tomah, Miss Emily and her family lived in metro Atlanta where she worked with non-profit agencies to provide programs for at-risk children and families.

Miss Heather is a graduate of Tomah High School where she was a member of the dance team for 3 years. She choreographed many routines, received numerous individual awards, and was captain her senior year. While attending Winona State University, she was on the dance team for two years.  She has been head coach for both the Tomah Middle and Tomah High School dance teams and has choreographed many routines for them throughout the years.


Miss Lauren grew up dancing at MSD.  She studied ballet, tap, jazz, hip hop, pointe, and modern techniques.  She has also studied the Brazilian martial art of Capoeira.  Miss Lauren has participated in MSD's Vision Dance Company, the Tomah High School Dance Team, and the Monroe-Jackson Dance Theatre for numerous years.  For the past three years, she was on faculty at the Elation Dance Studio owned by MSD Alumni, Marja (Martalock) Finnigan.

  

Miss Moriah has over 9 years of experience in Irish Dance. She grew up taking lessons and performing in multiple community performances in Winona County through Flanagan School of Irish Dance in Winona, MN. She has also participated in Irish Fest in Minneapolis. She Graduated from Viterbo University in La Crosse and currently works as a Registered Dietitian and Certified Diabetes Educator at the Tomah VA. She is also a Certified Personal Trainer. She is excited to be teaching at Marilyn’s School of Dance, LLC.


Miss Natalie has been dancing at MSD since she was 4 years old. She has studied many different styles of dance including Ballet, Pointe, Tap, Jazz, Hip Hop, Modern, Lyrical, and Musical Theatre. She Miss Natalie has been cast in multiple Monroe-Jackson Dance Theatre productions, including principal roles in Peter Pan and Cinderella. She attends multiple workshops outside of the studio through Dance Masters of Wisconsin and CNADM. Her most recent accomplishment is being crowned the 2018/2019 Miss DMW.


Miss Abby first began her dance training in her hometown, Tomah, WI at Marilyn School of Dance for 14 years. Here she built her foundation in tap, jazz, hip-hop, and modern dance, with an emphasis in ballet and pointe technique. In 2015 she started classes at the University of Wisconsin- Milwaukee with a BFA degree in Contemporary Choreography and Performance.  Four years later Skowronski has developed a deep appreciation and joy for the contemporary modern genre and labels herself as a contemporary performer and choreographer. While in college she has danced in multiple shows throughout the years, including New Dancemakers, Winterdances, and Springdances. She has worked with faculty members Simone Ferro, Darci Wutz, Maria Gillespie, and guest choreographers Dawn Springer, Ester Baker-Tarpaga, and Melanie George.

Earlier in her college career Abby Skowronski was involved with the Panther Dance Team, a collegiate dance team that not only cheers on the men and women’s basketball teams, but also competes on a national level once a year in Orlando, Florida. The rigor and intensity of training with this team greatly expanded her jazz and hip-hop ability. In her second year on the team in the 2016-2017 season the Panther Dance Team placed 6th place in both Division 1 hip-hop and jazz categories.  Miss Abby also kicked off her professional performing experience by interning for Milwaukee based choreographer, Deb Loewen, in her Fall 2018 site specific performance- ‘Acts of Discovery’.
